Comforting hugs 18

(Isaiah 41:10)" Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
I know that our parents,or someone who is like a parent to us gives us strength when they encourages us along the way. I also know that people feel very alone and fearful when that support is no longer there, due to a death. But you don't have to be alone. God wants you to know that he is willing to be there for you. He says so in this verse. Let us look closer at his words, shall we?
"Fear not"~ He knows that you are like a fearful child without the guidance of your parent. He wants to comfort you ask a Father would comfort his child.
"For I am with thee"~ He knows that you feel alone since your Mom or Dad has died, and he wants you to know that he will not leave you.
"Be not dismayed"~ He knows how you feel, and wants to reassure you.
" I will strengthen thee"~ He wants to be the one who will give you the strength to go on from here.
"Yea, I will help thee"~ He promises to help you now and in the future.
" I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness"~He wants you to know that his right hand will take care of you and that he will do what is right for you.
But there is one catch... you have to be the one to go to him and ask him to do so. For he will not force his will upon you. He is too much of a gentleman for that. I pray that you will see that he loves you very much and will want to make God the Father, your Father today.

Comforting hugs 17

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty...H shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust" (Ps. 91:1, 4a).

"How often would I have gathered thy children together. as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings..."(Luke 13:34).

My Mom had one child after another for 10 years. This made her tired a lot during those years, so, when she took a nap on the couch, she would have the young child of the moment, sleep behind  her legs that was at the edge of the couch. So that she would feel if the child would try to get down off of it. One of my sister's felt so safe there that she would often ask to lay there when she was a little older.

As children, we may have hid behind our Mother's skirts, for we felt safe there. Then as we grew up, we felt that safety in the embrace of our Mother's arms. But where do we go when our Mother's are no longer here on earth with us? We can go to God for that safe place. In Ps. 91:1, &4, we are told that we can hide under his shadow or wings. Jesus even said that he yearned to gather our children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings. Let me explain that to any of you who may not have seen how a hen does that. When a hen or Mother chicken has a brood of baby chicks with her, she will show them where all the good places to eat and such. But when she senses danger near by, she will call her brood to run and hide under her wings. That Mother would die before she would let any danger come to her brood. God is like that!

When you feel like life is flying at you, and you need a safe place to hide, God yearns to take you under his wings and protect you. Will you run to Him today and let Him? He's waiting...

Comforting hugs 16

"A father to the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains..." (Ps. 68:5-6).

Let me restate these verses in a way that may be better understood, first... My God in his holy dwelling, is a father to the fatherless, a judge for the widows. He puts those who feel alone in new families. He removes the chains that bind us.

These verses brings hope to people in different life situations. Let us look closer at them, shall we?

He is a Father to the fatherless. I have heard many say that they feel like an orphan when their parents or guardian dies. This is a normal fill that void in your life. He longs to put his loving arms around you and have those talks that you so badly miss. But he is a gentleman and will not do so unless you ask Him to.

He is judge for the widows. Widows often feel defenseless when the man that once protected them is gone. God understands that and longs to be the one who will protect you and judge those who take advantage and hurts you.  I once knew a woman who felt overwhelmed when it came to paying the bills. I told her to treat God like a husband. Sit down with the bills and ask him which ones to pay that month. She did so, and found that the burden did not seem so big anymore. God wants to help you with whatever is overwhelming you, but he will not push himself on you, you have to ask him for help.

He puts those who are alone in families. I have seen people who felt so very alone after members of their family has died. They usually deal with it in one of two ways...1. They become lone ranger, so to speak. 2. They seek out a new family. This second one is why many turn to bars, gangs, and clubs...  It was never God's will for us to be lone Rangers. He understands that we have a need to belong to a family. That is why he created the family of God. If you feel this need, seek out a loving godly group to become your new family. I believe that is part of the reason Rita started this group. So that all of you who are feeling alone can have a group of people who understand grief. Feel free to reach out to us here... we can be your new family.

God removes the chains that bind us. We can have many different types of chains. There are those who are physically in chains like in jail. But there is also those who are emotionally, mentally, or spiritually in chains. He also longs to help you break these chains that bind you and keep you from living life to the fullest. Won't you come to him and let him remove the chains that bind you?

God loves you so much, and wants to be whatever you need him to be. He awaits your invitation.

Let us pray:
Dear Father God,
Today we ask you to come into a relationship with us as a Father, partner, protector, friend, defender, and the key that unlocks our chains. We ask that you will place the lonely in new families that will love them.
I ask all this in Jesus name.
Amen

Comforting hugs 15

"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be a contrite spirit"  (Ps. 34:18).

"For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in his shall not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

Have you ever felt as though your heart had broke into pieces? Then someone came along and took those pieces and cut them into more pieces, and then someone else took those pieces and cut them into more pieces and so on and so forth until you feel as if you pulled back your armor to reveal your heart it would look like hamburger?

Was the death of a loved one what started to break your heart? God the Father understands. For His heart was broken when His son, Jesus died on the cross for all mankind. Over the years people continues to cut his heart into pieces when they don't except His love or son.

God is also all powerful and can heal that broken heat of yours if you are willing to take it to him and allow him to put the pieces back together. And if it is broken into too many pieces, He will give you a new one. For God is love, but he will not force His love on you. You have to go to Him and ask Him. Won't you come to Him today bringing the broken pieces of your heart, dreams and life? He is waiting for you. The next step is yours, my friend.

Comforting hugs 14

" The Lord will destroy the veil of sadness that covers all the nations. He will destroy...gloom...and shallow up death forever. The Lord and King will wipe away...tears from ...face"( Isaiah 25:6-8 NIV Reader).

When we are in the mist of our overpowering grief, we often wonder if we will feel this way forever. The verse above tells us, NO".

We experience sadness because death separates us from our loved on this earth. That happens,  because we live under the veil of sadness as long as we live here on earth.  But I have good news!

There is a day coming when  the Lord Jesus will roll back that veil of sadness and replace it with hope, peace and joy! The Bible promises, " God will wipe away every tear from their eyes" (Rev. 7:17b).

This promise is for you, look for it, seek it. Until then, reach out and grab the hand that knows the way through this valley~ Jesus.

Conforting hugs 13

"The Lord is my shepherd...Yea, thou I walk through the the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me" (Ps. 23:1a, 4).

There are time in our lives when we are called to walk beside someone who is fighting a great illness that could or will take their lives. Since we are not the one who is ill, it is the valley of the shadow of death for us. But it affects us none the less. These are the times when even we need God our Great Shepherd to lead us through this dark valley. We can be sure that if we keep our eyes on the Shepherd he will lead us through that valley to the other side.

Did you know that he brings weapons with Him into the valley to help protect and care for you? Yes, he does. Let me tell you about these weapons. He carrys a rod. Now this rod is a weapon that shepherds in the Holy lands. With it they use it as a club to beat back animals that are trying to attack the sheep. God also deals with our enemies, both physical and spiritual. We may not always see how, but he does. The other weapon is the staff.  A shepherd holds the staff sideways and uses it like a guardrail to help keep the sheep on a dark steep trail. God also has a staff called the Bible that tells us where to walk in safety. The shepherd also uses the staff to grab a sheep that is about to fall over a clift to keep them from doing so. Or to grab a sheep that has already fallen over the cift and is stuck on a ledge, to bring it back to safety. God also can do this to those of us that allow him to do so.

You see, Jesus, God son, is the Great Shepherd, he said so himself, when he said, "I am the good Shepherd. The shepherd gives his life for the sheep" (John 10:11 NIRV). That is what Jesus was doing when he died on that cross. When we realize just how much Jesus wants to take care of you and protect you even in the dark valley of the shadow of death, you will find comfort.

Comforting hugs 12

God is in his holy temple. He is a father to those whose father has died. He takes care of women whose husbands have died. God gives lonely people a family" (Ps. 68:5).

I have heard many people of all ages say that they feel like an orphan when their parents or whomever was their care taker dies. I want you to know that God understands.

I have heard women say that they feel like half of them died the day their husbands died. They also feel unprotected and cared for after th...at. God wants to know that he is there for you, protecting and caring for you.

We live in a culture where parents are not always in a child's life; divorce leaves people caring for kids without the other parent; and many people are states away from the comfort of their family. All of these situations have made us a nation of lonely people. BUT the good news is that God had said that he would always be there for you! If you are lonely and in need of the love of a parent, spouse or family, just climb up into God the Father's lap and sit there for a while. He would love to lavish His love on you! He also has his family, it is the family of God. Feel free to reach out to those in it.

Comforting hugs,
